Chris O’Connell vs Marton Fucsovics prediction
Chris O’Connell is enjoying a good run in Bucharest, booking his place in the quarter-finals with a hard-fought three-set win over fourth seed Nicolas Jarry.
The Australian won 6-2 5-7 7-6 after nearly three hours, winning 75% of points on his first serve and managing to hold his nerve at vital moments, as he saved seven of nine break points against the higher-ranked opponent.
Fucsovics was also involved in a close contest and managed to come from a set down to defeat Mariano Navone 4-6 6-4 6-4 in a rematch of last year’s final. The Hungarian had 21 break point opportunities during the encounter, though was only able to save one of the seven he offered up on his own serve.
These two have never played each other before and are very evenly matched in terms of world ranking, with just three places separating O’Connell in 87th and Fucsovics in 90th place. We think the Hungarian, who is playing his way nicely into the tournament as he attempts to defend his title, will have just enough to get through.
