A quarter-finalist at the worlds for a third time in a row, Chris Dobey could break new ground this year but standing in his way of a first semi-final is 2021 world champion Gerwyn Price.

Chris Dobey vs Gerwyn Price Prediction

It may not have been pretty, but Chris Dobey – as he so often does on the Alexandra Palace stage – found a way to win as he edged out Kevin Doets in a deciding set in Monday's fourth-round clash.

‘Hollywood’ missed 45 darts at a double in a wasteful display of finishing, but his scoring is what got him over the line as he came from 3-2 down against the surprise package. Dobey will now appear in his third straight quarter-final at the PDC World Darts Championship. Indeed he is one of only two out of the eight quarter-finalists who has managed that feat over the last three editions.

Despite the fact he was the 2021 world champion, it has to be said that Gerwyn Price’s run to the last eight is a little surprising given his general poor form in 2024. This is as far as he has reached in any of the televised majors, but in truth he has not had to produce anything particularly special so far.

In terms of averages, ‘The Iceman’ has hovered around the 92 mark in all three of his wins, most recently eliminating fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton by four sets to two in the fourth round.

The outcome of this match may very well rest on whether Dobey can tidy up on his doubles, as he had generally scored heavier than Price throughout the tournament. That superiority in the scoring department has been marginal though, so expect this one to go over 7.5 sets.

Chris Dobey vs Gerwyn Price Tip: Over 7.5 sets
