Casper Ruud vs Francisco Cerundolo Prediction

It’s been an inconsistent start to 2025 for Casper Ruud, who reached the final of the Dallas Open last month in the midst of some poor results in other events. The Norwegian though – a 2022 runner-up in Miami – has matched his run here last year by reaching the last 16.

The fifth seed has been tested in both his encounters so far, requiring three sets to see off Miomir Kecmanovic in his opener before holding off Alejandro Tabilo in the second round.

Francisco Cerundolo, meanwhile, has enjoyed a strong month or so having made it to the latter stages of the four tournaments he has entered since the Australian Open, including a runners-up spot in his native Argentina where he lost to Next Gen star Joao Fonseca.

The Miami Open is Cerundolo’s most successful ATP 1000 event, having made the semi-finals on debut in 2022 and the quarter-finals the following year. His straight-sets victory over 12th seed Tommy Paul in the second round on Monday showed that he is in the mood to emulate those runs.

Cerundolo edges the head-to-head 4-3 and has won two of their three hard-court meetings. Given his impressive recent form, we’re siding with the Argentine in this one.
