It took five tries for Jasmine Paolini to finally get the better of the vastly experienced Caroline Garcia, eventually doing so in October 2023 after a thrilling three-setter in Zhengzhou. Since then, Paolini has dominated their meetings, winning two of the following three games including victories in the Billie Jean King Cup and the Madrid Open. 

Garcia has not been in good form recently, following first round exits in both the Australian Open and the Abu Dhabi Open. Whilst she did get the better of Yue Yuan last time out, Paolini poses much stiffer competition. If the Italian can improve her return game when facing serve which proved her undoing in Melbourne last month, then she should overcome Garcia.
