The prediction

The pressure is well and truly on Carlton; winless on the season and facing a test that they should pass against the West Coast Eagles, who are in full rebuild mode. Carlton‘s position on the ladder probably doesn’t quite tell the full story. They have suffered close defeats after holding late leads in all bar one of their matches this season.

For West Coast, they face a whole host of issues at the end of the season regarding off-contract players, but for the moment they are finding it very difficult on the park to produce results. 

The schedule for the Eagles in the next month does get a little easier with the exception of the Hawks, so a good performance here against Carlton could well set them up for some improved results as they head towards the midpoint of the season.

Carlton may have reinforcements on the way with Harry McKay set to make his 2025 return and boom youngster Matt Carroll to debut on the half back flank.

Carlton have won the past four matches against the Eagles after West Coast had peeled off seven successive wins prior. We think Carlton makes it five straight after this one, with a comfortable victory in the pipeline.
