Carlos Alcaraz vs Botic van de Zandschulp Prediction
Carlos Alcaraz had mixed feelings after the Australian Open where there was so much positivity about his performances but he was ultimately beaten by Novak Djokovic. In that quarter-final clash, he struggled to bring a Plan B to that one and once the Serb legend got to grips with his game, Alcaraz could not change things around to pose more issues to Djokovic.
Alcaraz returns to action following a cold and he will be hoping there are no lingering effects from that as he hopes to enjoy a good run this week.
He meets Van de Zandschulp who he has met three times before and the last time they played, saw the Dutchman stun Alcaraz at the US Open in New York in straight sets last year. Van de Zandschulp was the one who adapted to the fast surfaces quickest in that match and he ran out 6-1 7-5 6-4 winner in what was arguably the shock of the tournament.
Prior to that, Alcaraz had shown no discomfort in their two previous encounters winning both without dropping a set.
This should very much return to business as usual as Alcaraz was playing well in Melbourne and he can take confidence from those early season performances. Van de Zandschulp will relish taking him on against but barring his cold still being an issue, Alcaraz should win in straight sets.
