Carlos Alcaraz picked up his eighth successive win on the tour with a 7-5 6-3 win over Alex de Minaur. The Spaniard was made to work for his victory but managed to get through and is now two games away from consecutive clay court titles and his third in Barcelona.

Alcaraz now takes on Arthur Fils for the second time in a week after his opponent and four-time finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas was forced to retire very early, with the Frenchman just 2-0 up in the first set. They played each other in a tight match at the Monte-Carlo Masters just last week, with Alcaraz recovering from going a break down in the final set to win 4-6 7-5 6-3.

Fils caused problems for the world number two in their first match against each other, but Alcaraz still found a way to get through. We think Alcaraz will be tested once again but we’re backing him to advance to a third Barcelona Open final.
