Carlos Alcaraz vs Andrey Rublev Prediction

Carlos Alcaraz was below par in his opening match as Casper Ruud romped to a 6-1 7-5 victory over the Spaniard. It was a somewhat bizarre match where Alcaraz’s frustration got the better of him and that was largely due to the fact he only won 25 points on his own serve and had win percentages of 59% on his first and 62% on his second serve.

It was a long way from vintage Alcaraz and one wonders whether he can turn it around so quickly or whether he has clocked off for the year now.

He meets Andrey Rublev who is also coming off a defeat to Alexander Zverev on Monday but he show great fight despite going down 6-4 6-4 to the German. Zverev created a break point in each set and took both, to win the match with impressive efficiency.

The pair have met twice before including ion this tournament last year when Alcaraz won 7-5 6-2. It was Rublev who won their only meeting earlier this year on clay in Madrid however and Rublev will not fear Alcaraz.

We had a much more positive vibe from Rublev on Monday compared to Alcaraz and this is definitely a match to approach with caution. We have a marginal preference therefore for Rublev and he does offer some good value. Our play however is on the unders in the game betting. We can fully see whoever loses the first set dropping their heads and this being over pretty quickly.
