Canberra Raiders Team News: Duo suspended but Nicholson to make debut

There is mixed news for the Canberra Raiders coming into this game as they aim to follow up their impressive 30-8 win over the New Zealand Warriors in Las Vegas two weeks ago. Raiders skipper Joe Tapine and winger Xavier Savage are both suspended for this match so they have a couple of enforced changes. Josh Papalii comes in to replace Tapine while Albert Hopoate is available again following the birth of his child and he replaces Savage on the right wing. Englishman Matty Nicholson has been named on the bench and should make his debut.

Brisbane Broncos Team News: Maguire’s men aim to follow up statement victory

After hitting the Sydney Roosters for 50 points in their opening match, the Broncos will be eager to follow up on the statement victory with another two points here. Coach Michael Maguire has no new injury problems to contend with and he goes with the same group of players as that which dominated the Roosters last time out.

Canberra Raiders vs Brisbane Broncos Prediction

This promises to be a competitive affair in the second round of the 2025 NRL season and it will be interesting to see how both teams fare after impressive opening wins.

Our sense is that the Broncos win was a closer representation of what we can expect from them over the season while the Raiders will do well to continue playing in that manner.

They are not helped by a couple of suspensions here to key players which does weaken them slightly, which is not ideal when facing a team as strong as the Broncos. We expect the Broncos to continue their strong start to the season and they could very well beat the -4.5 spread too.

Canberra Raiders vs Brisbane Broncos Tip: Brisbane Broncos to win -4.5 points
