Cagliari Preview: Struggling Sardinians
Ahead of the campaign and following the retirement of Claudio Ranieri, Cagliari called upon Serie A’s ‘miracle worker’ and most experienced firefighter Davide Nicola to build something solid from the start of the campaign.
It has been a disappointing season all told, though, as they sit just one point and one place outside of the bottom three. The Sardinians come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats to Parma and AC Milan ahead of this one.
Parma Preview: Ineffective Parma
Following their promotion to the top-flight last season, Parma boss Fabio Pecchia had several Serie A offers but he decided to stay put and implement his impressive style of football with Parma in the top-flight and they did begin the campaign very well.
However, that impressive start to the season has given way to a real fight against the drop. The visitors come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat at the Ennio Tardini against Lecce last weekend and they have now managed just one victory in their last nine matches.
Cagliari Team News: Nothing fresh
With no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues, Cagliari will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this weekend but they do likely remain without Angola international attacker Zito Luvumbo due to an ankle issue.
Predicted XI (4-4-1-1): Caprile; Zappa, Yerry Mina, Luperto, Augello; Zortea, Adopo, Makoumbou, Felici; Viola; Piccoli
Unavailable:
Questionable: Zito Luvumbo (Injured)
Parma Team News: Romanian doubts
Parma have a couple of key Romania international attacking midfielders Valentin Mihaila and Dennis Man as injury doubts, whilst there are several definite absentees such as Yordan Osorio, Alessandro Circati, Gabriel Charpentier and Mateusz Kowalski.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Suzuki; Leoni, Vogliacco, Valenti, Valeri; Sohm, Keita; Cancellieri, Haj Mohamed, Almqvist; Djuric
Unavailable: Yordan Osorio (Injured), Circati (Injured), Charpentier (Injured), Kowalski (Injured)
Questionable: Balogh (Injured), Hernani (Injured), Man (Injured), Mihaila (Injured), Benedyczak (Injured)
Cagliari vs Parma Prediction
Cagliari, with Davide Nicola at the helm, are generally defensive and reactive with their tactical style of football throughout the campaign. The Sardinians are expected to push themselves away from the bottom three but this is a crucial game as Parma will seek to get on the front foot and generally dominate proceedings. Parma will look to attack and Cagliari have the onus on them to do so with home advantage so both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one at the Sardegna Arena.
Cagliari vs Parma Tip: Both teams to score
