Burkina Faso vs Senegal Prediction

This match is being played at Stade du 26 Mars in the Malian capital city of Bamako but in the nominal return fixture between the two sides, Senegal led 1-0 from the 16th minute via Sadio Mane before a second-half stoppage-time equaliser from Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso have somewhat underperformed in the last few years after rising through the ranks of African football in the last half a decade or so. They endured a difficult 2023 CAF AFCON earlier this year but do appear to have steadied and look very strong with some recognisable players such as Edmund Tapsoba and Dango Ouattara.

Senegal won the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in 2022 and then reached the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with an impressive spine of experienced players across European football such as Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, Idrissa Gueye and Sadio Mane. They have some much-needed younger players coming through as they transition to a new generation.

This is a game between two of the stronger sides on the African continent but Senegal remain the better of the two sides and should benefit from not having to deal with a partisan crowd.
