Brisbane Heat Preview: Outclassed at Optus

After winning their opening two BBL 14 games, Brisbane Heat came unstuck in game three, away to Perth Scorchers. Chasing 166 to win, the Heat collapsed to 132 all out as Matt Renshaw top scored with just 36. They return back home to the Gabba for this one though, where they have already won once this season.

This Heat team have fond memories of facing Sydney Sixers, having beaten them by 54 runs in last season’s final. The BBL 13 showpiece event saw Brisbane rack up 166/8 before bowling out the Sixers for just 112.

Sydney Sixers Preview: 100% record still intact

Sydney Sixers couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season and after claiming Sydney derby bragging rights, Moises Henriques’ side followed that up with a brilliant eight-wicket win over Melbourne Stars which saw them chase down 195 to win at the SCG and cement their place at the top of the table.

The Sixers are now the only team remaining in the competition still yet to be defeated with six points from a possible six to their name. But after having beaten easier opposition on paper such as the two Melbourne teams, Brisbane Heat will provide the litmus test.

Brisbane Heat Betting Analysis

Against a quality batting line-up, Brisbane’s bowling will have to be excellent for them to triumph and Spencer Johnson could be the man capable of breaking through a formidable order of Sixers batters. Johnson is coming off the back of a four-wicket-haul in Perth in what was his first game of the competition and the speed he generates makes things happen. Back Johnson to pick up 3+ wickets via the ‘Bowler Milestones’ market.

Sydney Sixers Betting Analysis

James Vince was the star at the SCG against Melbourne Stars on Boxing Day, leading a successful 195 run chase with a magnificent unbeaten 101. One of the best overseas players in BBL history, Vince has consistently proven a reliable source of runs for Sydney Sixers at the top of the order for a long time now. If one player is capable of countering what is an impressive Brisbane bowling attack, it’s Vince. Back the classy opener to rack up over 25.5 match runs.

Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers Expert Prediction

This feels like it’ll be a battle between Brisbane Heat’s bowling unit and Sydney Sixers’ top order. But form must also be taken into account and specifically the fact that the Sixers are finding a route to get over the line on every occasion so far in BBL 14. Although we’ve not yet seen them bat first, there has been no better chasing team this season.

The likes of Johnson and Xavier Bartlett will give those Sydney Sixers batters a real challenge on this occasion but the sheer depth of that visiting line-up means that one player always seems to step up when required. That makes backing Sydney Sixers to keep their unbeaten streak alive well worth considering.
