Stade Brest have massively overperformed in this season’s UEFA Champions League as they now welcome the impressive Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven to France this week.

Kick-off date/time: Tuesday 10th December, 2024: UK – 8:00pm / US ET – 3:00pm / US PT – 12:00pm

How to watch on TV: UK – TNT Sports / US – Not televised

How to watch online: UK – Discovery+ / US – Paramount+

Brest Preview: A magnificent story

Former Sunderland player Eric Roy led Stade Brest to a third place finish and UEFA Champions League qualification with one of the smallest budgets in Ligue 1 last season and, despite regressing to the mean domestically, their fairytale has continued on the continent.

In their five games in the tournament so far this season, they have collected ten points but were recently beaten 3-0 by Barcelona a couple of weeks ago. That loss in Catalonia means they have won just three of their last ten matches across all competitions.

PSV Preview: Thrilling PSV

Peter Bosz has often been criticised for quite a naïve style of football but his thrilling and entertaining PSV Eindhoven side are defending their Dutch title very well with a seven-point lead at the top-of-the-table in the Eredivisie with 14 wins and one defeat in 15 matches so far.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of Twente. Their most recent UEFA Champions League outing saw them defeat Shakhtar Donetsk at the Philips Stadion by three goals to two when they were 2-0 down in that game as late as the 87th minute.

Brest Team News: Several injuries

Brest are dealing with key absentees in both defence and midfield for this weekend as Jonas Martin and Kenny Lala have joined key centre-back Soumaila Coulibaly and midfield duo Pierre Lees-Melou and Romain Faivre on the sidelines.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Bizot; Ndiaye, Chardonnet, Le Cardinal, Amavi; Fernandes; Camara, Magnetti; Doumbia; Ajorque, Sima

Unavailable: Coulibaly (Injured), Lala (Injured), Martin (Injured), Lees-Melou (Injured), Faivre (Injured)

Questionable:

PSV Team News: Bakayoko and Tillman decisive

There are no fresh injury concerns for PSV’s trip to Brest so they will be able to name their strongest eleven for this one. They have key men in attack to rely on such as Belgium international Johan Bakayoko as well as former Rangers man Mallik Tillman.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Benitez; Karsdorp, Flamingo, Boscagli, Dams; Saibari, Junior, Tillman; Bakayoko, De Jong, Lang

Unavailable: Driouech (Injured)

Questionable: Dest (Injured), Nagalo (Injured)

Brest vs PSV Prediction

Brest have pulled off some impressive wins in this campaign but perhaps not against anyone of real genuine quality with victories against strugglers Sturm Graz, Salzburg and Sparta Prague. They did earn a draw at home to Bayer Leverkusen but are actually playing at the neutral venue of Stade Municipal de Roudourou. They face a PSV side that will head to Brest with a lot of confidence and belief they can actually go quite deep into this competition and it would be a good value bet to side with them for this one.
