Stade Brest have been the main overperformers in Ligue 1 as they try and push themselves back in the top-half up against an Olympique Lyonnais side that are always entertaining to watch.

Brest Preview: The Brest overperformance

Coached by former Sunderland player Eric Roy, Stade Brest stunned French football by finishing third and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League last season with one of the smallest budgets in Ligue 1.

They have regressed slightly to sit in mid-table but are performing well on the continent. The hosts come into this one on the back of a very disappointing result, though, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Stade Raymond Kopa due to goals from Emmanuel Lepaul and Ibrahima Niane.

Lyon Preview: Chaotic but fun Lyon

Pierre Sage is dealing with an Olympique Lyonnais side that could well be facing an administrative relegation from Ligue 1 if they don’t raise enough funds in this transfer window but they remain brilliant to watch on the pitch.

Their 16 games in Ligue 1 so far this season have consisted of 42 goals as they come into this one on the back of an unusually hard-fought victory at Parc OL last weekend as they defeated Montpellier Herault by a goal to nil due to a 90th minute Khalid Fayad own goal.

Brest Team News: A few injuries

Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Bradley Locko is sidelined alongside midfielder Jonas Martin this weekend. They also have a couple of injury doubts such as Julian Le Cardinal, Soumaila Coulibaly and Pierre Lees-Melou for this one.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Bizot; Lala, Chardonnet, Ndiaye, Haidara; Camara, Fernandes, Magnetti; Del Castillo, Ajorque, Sima

Unavailable: Locko (Injured), Martin (Injured)

Questionable: Le Cardinal (Injured), Coulibaly (Injured), Lees-Melou (Injured)

Lyon Team News: Caqueret a doubt

As mentioned, this is expected to be a very busy month for Lyon and they have actually already brought someone in with the arrival of Thiago Almada. Fellow midfielder Maxence Caqueret is an injury doubt for this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Perri; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Caleta-Car, Abner; Veretout, Matic, Benrahma; Nuamah, Lacazette, Fofana

Unavailable:

Questionable: Caqueret (Injured)

Brest vs Lyon Prediction

Stade Brest managed to overperform last season largely due to a sense of control they had over opponents before then managing to nick games with moments of quality in the final third. They lost that control towards the end of last season, though, and did become quite chaotic. They face a Lyon side that, with an abundance of numbers as well as quality in attack, have thrived in chaos with a potentially entertaining encounter in which both teams score a good bet for this one.
