Brendan Loughnane: Manchester native aiming to repeat 2022 success

Brendan Loughnane (30-5) won the PFL featherweight tournament in 2022 and he will be looking to repeat that feat two years later. The Englishman has been in impressive form in reaching the final and he will now look to win the $1 million. His first two wins came via TKO but he had to rely on a narrow split decision in the semi-finals to beat Kai Kamaka III. 17 of his 30 professional MMA victories have come by knockout and that looks like his best route for victory in this fight.

Timur Khizriev: Dagestani star looking to extend 100% win record

Timur Khizriev (17-0) comes into this PFL featherweight tournament final with plenty of motivation. Not only is his 100% win record on the line, but the $1 million prize money will make victory ever so sweet. As one would expect from a Dagestani fighter, his main strength lies in his wrestling and his medica rear out of grinding out dominant decision victories. 13 of his 17 wins have come via the judges’ scorecards including his semi-final win over Gabriel Alves Braga which came via split decision.

Brendan Loughnane vs Timur Khizriev Prediction

This featherweight match-up in the 2024 PFL Featherweight Tournament Final is a classic puncher versus wrestler contest.

The big question is whether Brendan Loughnane will be able to connect with his Russian opponent as knockout appears his only real hope of victory here.

Timur Khizriev knows only one way of approaching his fights and that is to dominate with his wrestling. His strength is impressive and he will look to clinch and takedown the Englishman at the earliest opportunity. As he has done with all 17 opponents to date, he will look to grind his opponent down and it's hard to see him not doing that here.

As much as we would love to see Loughnane win this fight entertaining fashion, we fully expect to see the Russian win on the judges scorecards.

Prediction: Timur Khizriev to win by decision
