FIGHT PREDICTION
27-year-old 2016 US Olympian boxer Shakur Stevenson is fighting in his 22nd professional fight with a 100% record to preserve after he most recently defeated Edwin De Los Santos by unanimous decision in November last year. That bout won him the vacant WBC lightweight title and the Olympic silver-medallist now takes on Armenian-born German fighter, Artem Harutyunyan, to defend that title. Harutyunyan, who won bronze at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, has enjoyed 12 successive victories to begin his career before a loss to Frank Martin in Las Vegas in his last fight all the way back in July 2023. Stevenson struggled in that aforementioned defeat of De Los Santos with the two fighters matching up in a counter-attacking style that meant for more than frustrating viewing for the neutral. Harutyunyan, at 33, comes with a weaker record than Stevenson but packs a ferocious punch. The feeling is that may well suit Stevenson quite well with the German likely to be on the offensive and, despite some concerns over Stevenson and his previous performance, he should still come out on top in New Jersey.
