Borussia Monchengladbach Preview: Gerardo Seoane’s Gladbach

Under the management of former Bayer Leverkusen and Young Boys’ very attacking and exciting coach Gerardo Seoane, Borussia Monchengladbach are inconsistent but entertaining to watch with their 26 Bundesliga matches consisting of 83 goals.

The home team most recently defeated Werder Bremen by four goals to two at the Weserstadion a couple of weeks ago. They led 2-0 in that match before being pegged back to 2-2 before half-time but then cruising their way through to a comfortable victory.

RB Leipzig Preview: Big win last time out

Marco Rose remains under a bit of pressure at the Red Bull Arena but RB Leipzig managed an impressive and comfortable 2-0 defeat of Borussia Dortmund a couple of weeks ago courtesy of goals from Xavi Simons and Lois Openda.

Leipzig started the season well in terms of results but performances were unconvincing and results eventually caught up with them. That poor run in recent months means they do remain outside of the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.

Borussia Monchengladbach Team News: Issues at either end

Borussia Monchengladbach’s first-choice goalkeeper, Switzerland international Jonas Omlin, is missing due to a groin injury as is the case for his understudy, Moritz Nicolas. Germany international striker and key man Tim Kleindienst is also unavailable due to suspension.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pereira Cardoso; Scally, Itakura, Elvedi, Ullrich; Sander, Weigl; Ngoumou, Plea, Hack; Cvancara

Unavailable: Omlin (Injured), Nicolas (Injured), Kleindienst (Suspended)

Questionable:

RB Leipzig Team News: Baumgartner a doubt

Austria international attacker Christoph Baumgartner is a doubt for this weekend after suffering a head injury on international duty last weekend. They have a few confirmed absentees including the likes of Benjamin Henrichs and Antonio Nusa.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Gulacsi; Geertruida, Orban, Bitshiabu; Baku, Haidara, Seiwald, Raum; Sesko, Simons; Openda

Unavailable: Ouedraogo (Injured), Henrichs (Injured), Nusa (Injured)

Questionable: Baumgartner (Concussion), Poulsen (Injured)

Borussia Monchengladbach vs RB Leipzig Prediction

Borussia Monchengladbach will be without one half of an excellent partnership between Alassane Plea and Tim Kleindienst in attack but they will be attacking as ever with the philosophy and style of the coach. That, as well as home advantage and atmosphere at Borussia-Park, means they will seek to swarm Leipzig. That could suit the visitors’ impressive front three with more space on the counter-attack so both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.
