Borussia Dortmund Preview: Balancing commitments
Borussia Dortmund are one of a few Bundesliga clubs needing to balance their domestic commitments currently with European ones, particularly where the Champions League is concerned. This after their 1-1 draw with Lille last Tuesday night.
In the Bundesliga, Dortmund are improving and back-to-back victories represents progress on that front as they climb up the table and towards those European spots.
Augsburg Preview: Stuck in midtable
Augsburg’s recent penchant for draws has left them marooned in midtable right now. Whilst they are incredibly tough to beat, wins have been difficult to come by and until that ends up changing, we’re unlikely to see them climb.
Whilst their last away fixture did end up a victory for Augsburg, they failed to back that up with another win, drawing 0-0 with high-flying Freiburg last Sunday.
Borussia Dortmund Team News: Will Kovac rotate?
With a trip to Lille on the horizon, Niko Kovac has a big decision to make regarding whether to give certain players a rest. The likelihood though, is that he goes strong in this game with the likes of Guirassy and Adeyemi all starting.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Ryerson, Can, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Sabitzer, Gross; Adeyemi, Brandt, Gittens; Guirassy
Unavailable: Nmecha (Injured)
Questionable: Chukwuemeka (Injured),
Augsburg Team News: Large injury list
Augsburg are without at least six players for this away fixture. Jakic could recover in time to feature, but the likes of Berisha, Gumny and Kabadayi remain out.
Predicted XI (3-4-3): Dahmen; Matsima, Gouweleeuw, Zesiger; Wolf, Maier, Onyeka, Giannoulis; Jensen, Tietz, Claude-Maurice
Unavailable: Berisha (Injured), Gumny (Injured), Kabadayi (knee), Koudossou (Injured), Oxford (Illness), Pedersen (Injured)
Questionable: Jakic (Injured)
Borussia Dortmund vs Augsburg Prediction
Augsburg put together the perfect away performance against Borussia Monchengladbach and a repeat showing here may well see them get something at a Dortmund side who will clearly have their minds on the Champions League. The visitors are well suited to playing on their horizons, soaking up pressure before striking on the counter-attack.
With that in mind, there is definitely value to be had in making a play against the home team here. Specifically, via utilising the double chance market and backing Augsburg to pick up at least a draw, if not better.
Borussia Dortmund vs Augsburg Tip: Double chance - draw/Augsburg
