Bologna Preview: Fluent Bologna
Despite key departures last summer, former Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano has once again managed to get Bologna punching above their weight as they chase a top seven or eight finish in Serie A and further UEFA competition qualification.
The home team were left frustrated last weekend, though, as they shared a goalless draw with Lecce down in Apulia. They have suffered just three defeats in their 23 Serie A matches all season with only Internazionale and Juventus losing fewer.
Torino Preview: Difficult to play against
The visitors come into this one on the back of an indifferent campaign to this stage, beginning this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just tucked inside the bottom-half of the table due to too many draws and a lack of cutting edge in the final third meaning victories are hard to come by.
Torino most recently shared the spoils yet again last weekend as themselves and Genoa played out a 1-1 draw at Stadio Grande Torino. That means they are unbeaten in seven matches, with six of those being draws, since losing to Bologna by two goals to nil before Christmas.
Bologna Team News: Key doubts
Scotland international midfielder Lewis Ferguson suffered an ACL injury last year and is a doubt for Bologna now due to a thigh issue alongside both Lorenzo De Silvestri and Riccardo Orsolini, whilst Jens Odgaard is a confirmed absentee.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Holm, Casale, Jhon Lucumi, Lykogiannis; Freuler, Pobega; Ndoye, Fabbian, Dominguez; Castro
Unavailable: Odgaard (Injured)
Questionable: De Silvestri (Injured), Ferguson (Injured), Orsolini (Injured)
Torino Team News: Ricci suspension
Italy international midfielder Samuele Ricci is unavailable for this weekend’s trip to Bologna due to suspension, whilst Colombia international striker Duvan Zapata remains sidelined. They have key doubts in midfield, too, such as Ivan Ilic and Adrien Tameze.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic-Savic; Walukiewicz, Guillermo Maripan, Saul Coco; Lazaro, Casadei, Gineitis, Sosa; Vlasic, Karamoh; Adams
Unavailable: Schuurs (Injured), Ricci (Suspended), Duvan Zapata (Injured), Njie (Injured)
Questionable: Ilic (Injured), Tameze (Injured)
Bologna vs Torino Prediction
Despite being frustrated in last weekend’s goalless draw with Lecce, Bologna are now unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions and they have also kept three successive clean sheets. Torino have struggled for goals but the last time they did lose was against Bologna a couple of months ago. Bologna rarely get beat and the same can be said for Torino this season but with the visitors’ lack of goals and Bologna’s impressive defensive record, as well as their home advantage and overall good record that includes the reverse fixture between these two, siding with Bologna looks the way to go for this one.
Bologna vs Torino Tip: Double chance – Bologna to win or draw
