Bologna Preview: Italiano’s Bologna

Bologna finished fifth last season and stunned everyone by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League but they then lost manager Thiago Motta as well as some key players but former Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano took charge and has reinvigorated them after a slow start.

The home team begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top six of Serie A as they come into this one on the back of a third successive victory, seeing off Hellas Verona by two goals to one away from home at the Marcantonio Bentegodi last weekend.

Lazio Preview: Baroni’s Lazio

Former Hellas Verona boss Marco Baroni has also done an impressive job this season as Lazio chase a top four finish and a return to the UEFA Champions League, beginning the 29th match day of the 2024/25 Serie A campaign sitting a point and a place outside of that top four.

The visitors most recently edged past Czech First League side Viktoria Plzen in midweek with a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico, winning 3-2 on aggregate thanks to a late Alessio Romagnoli goal in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League.

Bologna Team News: Fully fit

Vincenzo Italiano and Bologna have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s visit of Lazio with no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Calabria, Beukema, Jhon Lucumi, Juan Miranda; Ferguson, Moro; Orsolini, Odgaard, Ndoye; Castro

Unavailable:

Lazio Team News: Couple of injuries

Both Samuel Gigot and Nicolo Rovella missed Lazio’s clash with Viktoria Plzen in midweek due to suspension but they are available for this one. Defenders Elseid Hysaj and Luca Pellegrini are both sidelined, though, due to injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Provedel; Lazzari, Gila, Romagnoli, Marusic; Guendouzi, Matias Vecino; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni; Tchaouna

Unavailable: Hysaj (Injured), Pellegrini (Injured)

Bologna vs Lazio Prediction

Bologna have been difficult to beat throughout the season but perhaps drew too often in the first-half of the campaign. However, in recent months, they have been much-improved with more of a cutting edge in attack. Lazio’s performance level has dropped as the season has gone on and there is a chance they feel fatigued here after that aforementioned hard-fought European tie so siding with Bologna, especially at the Renato Dall’Ara, looks the way to go for this one.

Bologna vs Lazio Tip: Double chance – Bologna to win or draw
