Bologna Preview: Easy on the eye Bologna

Following the departure of some key players, as well as their manager Thiago Motta over the summer, Bologna have performed very well to suffer just two defeats in their opening 16 matches of the campaign as they sit just outside of the top six and the European spots.

The home team come into this one on the back of an impressive and comfortable 2-0 defeat of Torino in Piedmont last weekend, thanks to goals from Thijs Dallinga and Tommaso Pobega, meaning they have now collected ten points from their last four matches.

Hellas Verona Preview: Verona sinking down

Hellas Verona begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places by a solitary point and a place. They have suffered 12 defeats with five victories in their 17 matches so far during the 2024/25 Serie A season.

Verona come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 loss at home to seven-time European champions AC Milan at the Marcantonio Bentegodi last weekend due to a 56th minute strike from Netherlands international midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

Bologna Team News: Swiss doubts

Switzerland international duo Michel Aebischer and Dan Ndoye are both major doubts for this weekend with Aebischer missing most of this season. Summer signing Nicolo Cambiaghi remains sidelined alongside Oussama El Azzouzi.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ravaglia; Holm, Beukema, Jhon Lucumi, Juan Miranda; Freuler, Pobega; Brian Dominguez, Ferguson, Odgaard; Castro

Unavailable: El Azzouzi (Injured), Cambiaghi (Injured)

Questionable: Aebischer (Injured), Ndoye (Injured)

Hellas Verona Team News: A few issues

There are a few injury issues for Hellas Verona to deal with this weekend as Mathis Lambourde does remain a key injury doubt for the visitors. As well as his potential absence, Martin Frese is sidelined alongside Abdou Harroui and Juan Manuel Cruz.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Montipo; Dawidowicz, Coppla, Ghilardi; Tchatchoua, Belahyane, Duda, Lazovic; Kastanos; Sarr, Suslov

Unavailable: Frese (Injured), Harroui (Injured), Juan Manuel Cruz (Injured)

Questionable: Lambourde (Injured)

Bologna vs Hellas Verona Prediction

Bologna have been very difficult to beat throughout this season as they transition away from Thiago Motta to Vincenzo Italiano, albeit Italiano has said that his style of football is very similar to that of Motta’s. Verona, for a second successive season, started quite well but, for a second successive season, have collapsed into a relegation battle and Bologna, especially with their home advantage, will be expected to win this one quite comfortably.
