Bochum Preview: Deep in relegation fight
Bochum currently find themselves in 17th-place on 20 points, having won only five of 27 Bundesliga games this season, losing 17 in comparison. They are currently five points adrift of safety and two points behind 16th-placed Heidenheim coming into this showdown with Stuttgart.
Key for Bochum to survive this season in the top flight is for them to improve defensively. Only Holstein Kiel have conceded more league goals than Bochum this campaign.
Stuttgart Preview: Up for the cup
Stuttgart may not be able to find a win in the Bundesliga at present, but their dreams of cup glory remain firmly alive. Sebastian Hoeness’ side booked their place in the DFB-Pokal final with a 3-1 triumph over RB Leipzig with third tier Arminia Bielefeld awaiting them in Berlin. Such an incredible opportunity for them to win a major trophy now takes priority for the visitors this campaign.
Whilst Stuttgart have slipped further and further away from European contention following an awful patch of form in the Bundesliga, victory in the cup would guarantee them a place in Europe anyway.

Bochum vs Stuttgart Prediction
Bochum have a huge opportunity here against a Stuttgart side missing plenty of first-team players and on the back of playing in midweek. Expect the hosts to really try and take the game to Hoeness’ men from an attacking point of view and it would be no surprise to see them get on the scoresheet at least once. However, Bochum’s defensive fragilities are well known and gaps may well appear in their half as they push bodies forward. With that in mind, backing both teams to score appears a shrewd play.
