Bochum Preview: Could move out of bottom two

Bochum can take heart from the fact that they’ve not lost in any of their last three Bundesliga fixtures and if they can better the result of Heidenheim, then they can break out of the automatic relegation places in this round of fixtures. Their most recent result was a 1-1 draw away at Wolfsburg with the hosts equalising with less than ten minutes to go.

Hoffenheim Preview: Seven points above 16th-place

Hoffenheim currently sit in 14th-place on 22 points following a recent small upturn in results which has seen them overcome Werder Bremen and pick up an extremely credible 1-1 draw with Stuttgart, Victory here would open up an even bigger gap between themselves and the automatic relegation place.

Bochum Team News: Usual formation expected

Bochum should line up in their patented 3-5-2 formation with two strikers and three centre-backs. However, striker Myron Boadu and winger Gerrit Holtmann won’t feature with both missing through injury.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Horn; Masovic, Ordets, Bernardo; Oermann, Bero, Sissoko, Krauss, Wittek; Masouras, Hofmann

Unavailable: Boadu (Injured), Holtmann (Injured)

Questionable:

Hoffenheim Team News: Several still sidelined

Hoffenheim will be without the likes of Ozan Kabak, Adam Hlozek and Grischa Promel to name just three of what is a sizeable list of absentees for the visiting side. That list could yet be extended should Samassekou or Tohumcu fail to pass fitness tests.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Baumann; Kaderabek, Chaves, Ostigard, Prass; Stach, Becker; Bischof, Kramaric, Bulter; Orban

Unavailable: Bebou (Injured), Gendrey (Injured), Hlozek (Injured), Kabak (Injured), Lenz (Injured), Promel (Injured)

Questionable: Samassekou (Injured), Tohumcu (Injured)

Bochum vs Hoffenheim Prediction

Plenty is at stake here for both sides and with Bochum being at home, they simply have to take the game to Hoffenheim, knowing the importance of three points in their battle to avoid the drop. But whilst they will be expected to push bodies forward whenever possible, this opens up the prospect of Hoffenheim hitting them on the counter-attack, taking advantage of what is already a fragile Bochum backline.

It would be no surprise to see plenty of action with plenty of opportunities for both teams and whilst the result itself could go the way of either of these sides, backing both to find the net over the course of 90 minutes has to be favoured.
