Billy Harris qualifies for this event as a lucky loser after defeat to Chun-Hsin Tseng in qualifying. His recent form on the clay is poor with two early exits at Challenger events. Despite being the number one seed, he fell to a three-set defeat to Spanish veteran Albert Ramos-Vinolas in Menorca and then suffered the same fate in Madrid against Sebastian Ofner.

David Goffin staged one of the biggest upsets of the year so far with his three-set win over Carlos Alcaraz but he did lose to Brandon Naksahima in the very next round. He then couldn’t make it out of qualifying for Monte-Carlo after a loss to Corentin Moutet despite taking the first set. The Belgian had more than enough opportunities to win the match but only converted 25% of his 20 break point opportunities.

Goffin moved beautifully around the clay in the past and made the quarter-finals of Roland Garros in 2016. Though his best years are behind him, we think he should win against Harris fairly easily.
