Ben Shelton arrives in Madrid on the back of finishing as runner-up in Munich.

The American’s game style should suit the fast pace in Madrid with his powerhouse serve and plus-one forehand sure to do plenty of damage if he settles quickly. 

Mariano Navone has a habit of taking impressive scalps and did it again in the first round at the expense of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
