Belinda Bencic vs Clara Tauson prediction

Belinda Bencic picked up her first win on clay since 2023 with a 6-0 6-2 thrashing of Zeynep Sonmez. The Swiss player raced through the first set and didn’t look back, setting up a match with Clara Tauson in the next round.

Tauson did not get off to the best of starts on the surface, losing in the first-round of the Stuttgart Open with a three-set loss to Anastasia Potapova. She did hold a match point in the second set but couldn’t get the job done. Her better form this season was found in February, with the Dane reaching the semi-finals of the Linz Open and then going one better in Dubai but losing out in the final to Mirra Andreeva. She produced the best win of her career in the tournament by beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the round-of-16 stage.

They’ve never played each other on clay before but did face off in Doha three years ago, with Tauson winning in three sets. We expect a tight match between the pair but Bencic making it through in three.
