BAYERN MUNICH PREVIEW: BACK-TO-BACK WINS REPRESENT GOOD REACTION TO BARCA MAULING
Since being beaten 4-1 by Barcelona in the Champions League, Bayern Munich have racked up nine goals in the space of two games without conceding. A 0-5 win away at Bochum in the league, was backed up by beating Mainz 0-4 to advance through to the next round of the DFB-Pokal.
With only goal difference keeping them above RB Leipzig as it stands, this represents a good opportunity for the Rekordmeister with Marco Rose’s side facing a tough away trip to Borussia Dortmund on the same weekend.
UNION BERLIN PREVIEW: OUT OF THE CUP IN DISAPPOINTING FASHION
Union Berlin fans have every right to feel let down after a meek performance saw them dumped out of the DFB-Pokal by Arminia Bielefeld this past Wednesday by a scoreline of two goals to nil. Despite recording 21 shots, Union came up with nothing whilst their opponents scored two of their three shots on target.
In the Bundesliga however, Union are flying high in fourth-place currently, having accumulated 15 points already courtesy of four wins and three draws, losing just once. This despite them scoring only nine goals, by far the least of the current Bundesliga top six.
BAYERN MUNICH TEAM NEWS: DIER DOUBTFUL, INJURED PLAYERS ALL REMAIN OUT
Vincent Kompany remains without Boey, Ito, Pavlovic and Stanisic all through injury. The versatile Eric Dier is also a doubt for this one. But with Jamal Musiala back, that’s one less headache to solve after the 21-year-old’s second consecutive start in midweek.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Guerreiro, Upamecano, Kim, Davies; Kimmich, Palhinha; Olise, Musiala, Gnabry; Kane
UNAVAILABLE: Boey (Injured), Ito (Injured), Pavlovic (Injured), Stanisic (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Dier (Injured)
UNION BERLIN TEAM NEWS: JURANOVIC AND STEIN STILL OUT
Vertessen is likely to start in a front three that prioritises pace and trying to hit Bayern on the counter attack. Midfielder Lucas Tousart is battling to be fit, whilst Juranovic and Stein are both missing.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Ronnow; Doekhi, Vogt, Leite; Trimmel, Kemlein, Khedira, Rothe; Jeong, Hollerbach, Vertessen
UNAVAILABLE: Juranovic (Injured) Stein (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Tousart (Injured)
BAYERN MUNICH VS UNION BERLIN PREDICTION
Whilst Union Berlin boast one of the meanest defences in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich will push them to their limits here With Musiala back in the side, the offence of the hosts has sparkled further with an extra layer of creativity and urgency. It would be a surprise if Bayern were not to win this game by at least two clear goals.
