Bayern Munich Preview: Focus is required
Due to their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen, in which they managed to defeat their Bundesliga rivals by five goals to nil on aggregate, Vincent Kompany heavily rotated in their last two league outings and that has pegged them back.
They suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to Bochum at the Allianz Arena in a game in which they were 2-0 up before then heading into the international break on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with Union Berlin in the capital city a couple of weeks ago.
St Pauli Preview: St Pauli’s struggles
Following their promotion to the top-flight of German football last season, St Pauli lost manager Fabian Hurzeler to Brighton and Hove Albion with Alexander Blessin brought in to replace him and they performed well in the first-half of the campaign.
The hosts have endured some average form in the last couple of months but they remain six points above the bottom three and the danger zone ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, most recently earning a much-needed 1-0 defeat of Hoffenheim in Hamburg.
Bayern Munich Team News: Goalkeeping issues
With Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer having been sidelined due to injury of late, Jonas Urbig got the nod ahead of Israel international Daniel Peretz but Urbig is now an injury doubt and also made a few key errors in recent games.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Peretz; Stanisic, Upamecano, Dier, Guerreiro; Goretzka, Kimmich; Olise, Musiala, Sane; Kane
Unavailable: Neuer (Injured), Buchmann (Injured)
Questionable: Urbig (Injured), Kim (Injured), Davies (Injured), Pavlovic (Illness), Coman (Injured)
St Pauli Team News: A few injuries
Estonia international Karol Mets is a confirmed absentee for St Pauli alongside winter transfer window signing James Sands. They also have some key doubts such as Siebe Van der Heyden and Morgan Guilavogui.
Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Vasilj; Nemeth, Wahl, Dzwigala; Saliakas, Irvine, Smith, Treu; Sinani; Weisshaupt, Saad
Unavailable: Mets (Injured), Sands (Injured)
Questionable: Van der Heyden (Injured), Guilavogui (Injured), Wagner (Injured)
Bayern Munich vs St Pauli Prediction
Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich will be expected to get themselves back on the front foot. They have a busy month ahead with a UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Internazionale coming up but they have a clear midweek having already been knocked out of the DFB-Pokal. St Pauli attempt to play on the counter-attack but they simply lack the quality and efficiency to overly trouble the Bavarians.
Bayern Munich vs St Pauli Tip: Bayern Munich to win -2 handicap
