Bayern Munich Preview: Brilliant Bayern

Bayern Munich went into the March international break on the back of some underwhelming performances in the Bundesliga but the Bavarians have returned to break after recharging their batteries, sitting six points clear of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen with six games left.

They overcame the aforementioned Leverkusen in impressive style in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League last month, defeating their compatriots by five goals to nil on aggregate with Harry Kane in particular in excellent form ahead of this quarter-final.

Inter Milan Preview: Grinding it out

Simone Inzaghi’s Internazionale romped to their 20th Serie A title and the second star upon their badge last season and the Nerazzurri remain at the top-of-the-table once again in Italy, despite some unconvincing performances and results throughout the campaign.

They are chasing the treble this season but have been held to two draws in their last two games, the first in the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan in the first-leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie last week before a 2-2 draw with Parma at the Ennio Tardini at the weekend.

Bayern Munich Team News: Key issues

Bayern Munich are dealing with several injury issues for this one with Alphonso Davies having sustained an ACL injury, whilst key players Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano and Jamal Musiala all sidelined, too. As well as that, the likes of Raphael Guerreiro and Aleksandar Pavlovic both remain doubtful for the Bavarians.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Urbig; Laimer, Dier, Kim, Stanisic; Kimmich, Goretzka; Olise, Muller, Sane; Kane

Unavailable: Neuer (Injured), Ito (Injured), Upamecano (Injured), Davies (Injured), Musiala (Injured), Coman (Injured)

Questionable: Guerreiro (Injured), Pavlovic (Illness)

Inter Milan Team News: Lautaro to attack alongside Thuram

Lautaro Martinez has had fitness issues of late but the Argentina international striker is expected to form his partnership alongside Marcus Thuram this week. They do have some key absentees for this one, though, with key wing-back Denzel Dumfries remaining unavailable due to a thigh injury.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Martinez, Thuram

Unavailable: Dumfries (Injured), Asllani (Suspended), Zielinski (Injured), Taremi (Injured)

Questionable: Bastoni (Injured)

Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Prediction

Bayern Munich have perhaps been naïve when they have come up against stronger teams this season but their performances across two legs against Leverkusen will give them huge confidence ahead of this one. At their best, Inter will fancy their chances of seeing off most if not all sides in Europe with a tight defensive tactical nous and some clarity in attack but injuries in the final third and a lack of consistency in their general sturdiness at the back would suggest Bayern may well be the team to be sided with for this first-leg in Bavaria.
