Bayern Munich Preview: One foot in quarter-finals
Bayern Munich picked an excellent time to record their first victory against a Xabi Alonso led Bayer Leverkusen, beating them 3-0 in their Champions League round of 16 first-leg contest. Harry Kane’s two goals did most of the damage, with Jamal Musiala also finding the net.
In the Bundesliga, Bayern continue to pile up victories, winning 19 of 24 fixtures with just one defeat. Recent triumphs over Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart only increase the likelihood that they will ultimately be crowned champions come the end of the campaign.
Bochum Preview: Bottom three battle
Bochum find themselves four points adrift of safety currently after losing in the last round of Bundesliga fixtures. That loss was a tough one as well, coming at the hands of Hoffenheim by a goal to nil.
Even if they end up getting no points out of this match, it’s key that their goal difference doesn’t take a heavy hit as that could prove very important come the end of the season.
Bayern Munich Team News: Players could be rested
Joshua Kimmich is unlikely to be risked with a Champions League game only a few days later, whilst Jamal Musiala could be rested with Thomas Muller waiting in the wings.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Stanisic, Dier, Ito, Guerreiro; Goretzka, Palhinha; Gnabry, Muller, Coman; Kane
Unavailable:
Questionable: Kimmich (Injured), Pavlovic (Illness)
Bochum Team News: Ordets in race to be fit
A late fitness test is expected for Ordets, who is fighting to prove his fitness ahead of this match. The game however, does come too soon for both the injured Boadu and Holtmann.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Horn; Oermann, Medic, Bernardo; Passlack, Bero, Sissoko, Krauss, Wittek; Masouras, Hofmann
Unavailable: Boadu (Injured), Holtmann (Injured)
Questionable: Ordets (Injured)
Bayern Munich vs Bochum Prediction
Even if Bayern Munich were to field a changed team here, they should still prove far too strong for Bochum when taking into account the players within the Bayern squad, even if Vincent Kompany’s side are not at the best here, which would be understandable with the recent fixture schedule crowding up.
Never write off the chances of an upset in the Bundesliga, but it would be a huge surprise if Bochum didn’t come away from Munich with anything other than a comprehensive defeat to their name. Back Bayern to win by at least two clear goals.
Bayern Munich vs Bochum Tip: Bayern Munich to win with -1 handicap
