Bayern Munich Preview: Bayern’s brilliance
Vincent Kompany was a surprising appointment at Bayern Munich this summer but the Bavarian giants went into the November international break sitting at the top-of-the-table with a five-point lead over second place RB Leipzig having picked up eight victories and two draws in their opening ten matches of the campaign.
They have been relentless in terms of their scoring, too, with 52 goals scored in 16 games across all competitions so far this season. They did have to fight hard for a victory in their most recent outing as they defeated St Pauli by a goal to nil a couple of weeks ago thanks to a long-range strike from the excellent Jamal Musiala.
Augsburg Preview: Steady Augsburg
Augsburg begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom-half of the Bundesliga after an inconsistent start to the campaign. The visitors have started the 2024/25 season with three victories, three draws and four defeats in their opening ten matches of the campaign. They did head into the November international break on the back of a steadier and improved run of form.
The Bavarians shared a goalless draw with Hoffenheim a couple of weeks ago before hammering Ingolstadt by seven goals to nil in a friendly last week. That aforementioned draw with Hoffenheim, though, means Augsburg have now suffered just one defeat in their last six matches across all competitions.
Bayern Munich Team News: No Joao Palhinha

As well as the defensive midfielder, Bayern are also without fellow summer signing Hiroki Ito and another key defensive midfielder, Aleksandar Pavlovic, due to injury.

Bayern Munich vs Augsburg Prediction
As mentioned, Bayern Munich have been free scoring with a high risk style of football that Kompany implemented at Burnley and Bayern are getting more Burnley-in-the-Championship than Burnley-in-the-Premier-League type results from it – at least in the Bundesliga. Augsburg make the short trip to their regional rivals knowing it will likely just be about damage limitation but, even with that mentality, a comfortable Bayern victory is to be expected at the Allianz Arena.
