THE TEAM NEWS
HOUSTON ROCKETS
- The Rockets were absolutely destroyed by the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday and settled for a 120-105 loss that didn’t reflect what happened on the court. Houston, however, remain one of the best teams in the Western Conference thanks to a 39-22 record that has them in fourth place of the standings.
- Houston should be close to full strength here with their lone potential absentee DeMarre Carroll, as the veteran wing is dealing with illness and has been listed as questionable.
- James Harden should be the player to watch here, as he always comes out with a vengeance following his team’s losses. The star shooting guard finished with 16 points after going 4-17 from the field against the Clippers, and he will look to turn things around against a struggling Hornets team.
CHARLOTTE HORNETS
- The Hornets are coming off a 114-112 home loss to the Denver Nuggets and this continues their poor season, as they appear set for another season without making it to the playoffs of the Eastern Conference. They currently sit in 11th place with a 21-41 record.
- Devonte’ Graham played against the Nuggets, which means his ankle injury is a thing of the past now. Charlotte’s lone absentee for this game will be Malik Monk, as the shooting guard got suspended by the NBA due to violations to the league’s anti-drug policy.
- One player to keep an eye on the Hornets roster should be Terry Rozier. The former Boston Celtics point guard has scored in double digits in each of his last five outings, and he is coming off a 19-point performance against the Nuggets on Thursday.
THE PREDICTION
Both teams enter this game on losing streaks. While the Hornets have dropped their last three contests, the Rockets have lost their past two. That said, Houston are a much better team overall and look stronger on paper ahead of this contest. The Hornets might have the advantage of playing at home, but that may not mean much considering they are 9-21 at the Spectrum Center this season. Houston should be able to win easily.
