Barcelona Preview: On for the treble

Hansi Flick will have to put aside their frustrations with this game kicking off earlier than they would have liked in the calendar because the Blaugrana have serious aspirations for the treble this season as they return to La Liga action sitting at the top-of-the-table with a game-in-hand.

This is indeed their game-in-hand and is therefore absolutely crucial in the Spanish title race. The Catalans have been relentless and exciting throughout the season, albeit for a mid-season blip, scoring 132 goals in 43 matches across all competitions.

Osasuna Preview: Entertaining Osasuna

In the summer, Osasuna lost manager Jago Arrasate to Real Mallorca and he was replaced by former Almeria boss Vicente Moreno with many suggesting they could be involved in a relegation battle. Instead, they could well push for a European spot in the final few weeks.

The Pamplona-based outfit begin this match sitting in the bottom-half of the table but a victory could take them to within three points and the top eight and probable European spots. Their 27 games in La Liga have consisted of 72 goals this season.

Barcelona Team News: Some issues

Both Pau Cubarsi and Frenkie de Jong sustained knocks over the international break so will be doubts for this one, although Flick has said the former is a centre-back option alongside Inigo Martinez and Eric Garcia, whilst Marc Casado is now out for the season. Both Ronald Araujo and Raphinha will attempt to race back from South American qualifiers, albeit Hansi Flick has said they will not be considered.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Kounde, Eric Garcia, Inigo Martinez, Alex Balde; Gavi, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres; Lewandowski

Unavailable: Ter Stegen (Injured), Christensen (Injured), Ronald Araujo (International duty), Marc Casado (Injured), Marc Bernal (Injured), Raphinha (International duty)

Questionable: Pau Cubarsi (Injured), De Jong (Injured)

Osasuna Team News: Boyomo faces race

Much like the aforementioned Ronald Araujo and Raphinha, Osasuna’s Cameroonian international centre-back Enzo Boyomo faces a race to get back in time, whilst Spain international Bryan Zaragoza is an injury doubt. Lucas Torro is missing through suspension.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Sergio Herrera; Jesus Areso, Unai Garcia, Alejandro Catena, Juan Cruz; Jon Moncayola, Iker Munoz, Pablo Ibanez; Raul Garcia, Budimir, Ruben Garcia

Unavailable: Lucas Torro (Suspended)

Questionable: Boyomo (International duty), Bryan Zaragoza (Injured)

Barcelona vs Osasuna Prediction

Barcelona and Osasuna both have selection issues for this one at the Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys. Barca do have a bit of depth, particularly in midfield, but their high-line and the rigidity of that could be disrupted, albeit Osasuna’s best source of playing through that, Bryan Zaragoza, may well himself be limited in terms of fitness and minutes. As a result, Barca are still expected to come out on top in what should once again be a high-scoring affair here.

Barcelona vs Osasuna Tip: Barcelona to win & over 2.5 goals
