Barcelona Preview: Concerns in midweek

Hansi Flick and his Barcelona side continued on their march towards a potential treble in midweek, despite suffering a 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund but winning by five goals to three on aggregate and reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

That, combined with an upcoming El Clasico Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid in a few weeks, leaves them in an excellent position across all competitions as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting four points clear of Real Madrid at the top-of-the-table.

Celta Vigo Preview: Entertaining Celta

In Celta Vigo’s 31 La Liga matches so far this season, there has been a combined total of 89 goals with 44 scored and 45 conceded with Claudio Giraldez’ entertaining style of football also proving to be effective as they chase European qualification this season.

The Galicians begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top seven and the European spots in La Liga. The visitors were most recently beaten by two goals to nil by in-form Espanyol at Balaidos in their most recent outing last weekend.

Barcelona Team News: No Alex Balde

The fairly dodgy and inexperienced performance of Gerard Martin in midweek will be a concern for Barcelona as Spain international left-back Alex Balde is now missing through a leg injury alongside the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Bernal and Marc Casado.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Inigo Martinez, Gerard Martin; Eric Garcia, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Raphinha; Lewandowski

Unavailable: Ter Stegen (Injured), Alex Balde (Injured), Marc Bernal (Injured), Marc Casado (Injured)

Celta Vigo Team News: Starfelt out

Former Celtic centre-back Carl Starfelt is unavailable for this one ahead of their trip to Catalonia for this weekend as he is missing due to a thigh injury, whilst Hugo Alvarez is an injury doubt due to a strain.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Vicente Guaita; Javi Rodriguez, Hugo Sotelo, Marcos Alonso, Oscar Mingueza; Sergio Carreira, Pablo Duran, Fran Beltran, Ilaix Moriba, Alfon; Iago Aspas

Unavailable: Starfelt (Injured)

Questionable: Hugo Alvarez (Injured)

Barcelona vs Celta Vigo Prediction

Barcelona have been brilliant throughout the campaign and they are searching for a third ever treble and Hansi Flick’s second treble of his managerial career. The Catalans have perhaps showed signs of slowing down of late and they have been caught out on the counter attack often this season. That should aid and suit Celta Vigo with the likes of Iago Aspas trying to get in behind so whilst Barca are favourites, it could be quite entertaining to watch this season.
