Bangladesh Preview: Outclassed by favourites
Bangladesh didn’t stand much of a chance against India and that turned out to be the case. The Tigers wound up posting 228 batting first after being bowled out in the 50th over of their innings and India managed the chase relatively comfortably, winning by six wickets in the end, Towhid Hridoy’s century being in vain. Bangladesh now find themselves in must-win territory as a result, as defeat here would eliminate them.
New Zealand Preview: One win away
New Zealand made a real statement in the opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy, outplaying Pakistan on home soil and beating the reigning champions by 60 runs. The Black Caps racked up 320/5 in Karachi with two players scoring hundreds, before bowling out Pakistan for 260 in response as five of the six bowlers utilised picked up at least one wicket. Victory here against the Tigers will guarantee New Zealand semi-final qualification.
Bangladesh Betting Analysis
The Tigers will hope that Towhid Hridoy can pick up where he left off batting in the middle order. His hundred against India was a high-class innings and proof that he can perform against the best in the world. Such a knock will have given Towhid a massive confidence boost and on what is likely to be another good batting surface, consider backing him to accumulate another 20+ runs.
New Zealand Betting Analysis
Whilst Tom Latham’s unbeaten 118 batting at number five may have stolen the show somewhat given that he was at the crease as New Zealand powered their way to 320 vs Pakistan, opener Will Young’s hundred shouldn’t be forgotten either. Young has never been a nailed-on selection for the Black Caps, so that was a real statement innings from him as he continues to state his case to be a first-choice selection. With that in mind, back Young to get his side off to a good start once again with over 30.5 match runs.
Bangladesh vs New Zealand Expert Prediction
Bangladesh can’t afford to lose again but the reality is that if New Zealand put in the same level of performance that we saw from them against Pakistan, then it will be very difficult for the Tigers to match that. You could argue that New Zealand are the dark-horses for the trophy based on what we saw in the opening round of group stage matches.
Expect New Zealand to maintain composure and to show no complacency, knowing that defeat would throw things wide open again with the Black Caps having to play India in their final group game. Back a second consecutive triumph for Mitchell Santner’s men.
