Bangladesh Preview: Little to lose

Bangladesh won’t be expected to reach the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy in a group that includes India, Pakistan and New Zealand but in a way that may just work in their favour. They go into this tournament with nothing to lose and can adopt the underdog mentality that can so often lead a team to greater than the sum of their parts.

India Preview: Depth the envy of rivals

India will play all their games in Dubai, the only nation that will do so. This should serve as a big advantage to them as they can treat the Dubai International Stadium as a home ground, with the players able to get accustomed to the environment, pitches and dimensions, whilst other nations must travel over from Pakistan with a short turnaround in fixture-time. But even if India were to play in Pakistan, they’d still be favourites to win the competition with a stellar line-up and excellent strength-in-depth, although fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s absence is a blow.

Bangladesh Betting Analysis

Opening batter Soumya Sarkar has grabbed the headlines over the past few months for his T20 exploits. The opener has scored runs in both international and franchise cricket and such form is likely to earn him a place in the Tigers’ starting XI for this game. Assuming Sarkar does feature with the bat, then consider backing him to score 20+ runs here via the ‘Batter Milestones’ market.

India Betting Analysis

With Jasprit Bumrah out through injury, fellow fast bowler Mohammed Shami becomes ever-more important for India, having been a reliable performer in international colours now for a long time. Shami is a workhorse, capable of consistent putting the ball in the right players and his guile can draw mistakes, not to mention that magic delivery capable of knocking over any top batter. Back Shami to take over 1.5 match wickets against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh vs India Expert Prediction

When taking into account the quality of both these two teams across all departments, this contest really is a mismatch. India appear significantly superior to Bangladesh whether that be with bat or ball and they’ll be expected to get their tournament off to a winning start. Any other outcome would be a huge shock with the class of player at their disposal right down the order.
