Atalanta Preview: Bergamasci need a run
Off-field squabbles have contributed to a dreadful few months for Atalanta as they drift away from the Serie A title, race get eliminated from the Coppa Italia as well as from the UEFA Champions League, whereby they lost to Club Brugge in the knockout playoff round.
However, as they look to make sure of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots in Serie A in the final few weeks of the season, Atalanta come into this one on the back of back-to-back victories, defeating AC Milan by a goal to nil at San Siro last weekend.
Lecce Preview: Lecce’s strugglers
Luca Gotti was sacked by Lecce mid-way through this season after producing something of a mini great escape last season and he has been replaced by Marco Giampaolo but, after a reasonable start to his tenure, the Apulia-based club are now in real trouble.
The visitors begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting a point and a place outside of the bottom three and the relegation places. They most recently suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Como last week to mean they are now winless in their last nine matches in the league.
Atalanta Team News: Defensive injuries
The hosts are dealing with a few defensive injury issues for this one ahead of the visit of Lecce. Both Giorgio Scalvini and Sead Kolasinac are confirmed absentees for this one, whilst both Berat Djimsiti and Stefan Posch are also defensive doubts this weekend.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Carnesecchi; Bellanova, Hien, Kossounou; Juan Cuadrado, De Roon, Ederson, Zappacosta; Pasalic, Lookman; Retegui
Unavailable: Scalvini (Injured), Kolasinac (Injured), Scamacca (Injured)
Questionable: Djimsiti (Injured), Posch (Injured)
Lecce Team News: Couple of suspensions
Lecce have a couple of key suspension issues ahead of the Gewiss Stadium this weekend with midfielder Medon Berisha and key striker Nikola Krstovic now missing through suspension, whilst the likes of Gaby Jean, Filip Marchwinski and Joan Gonzalez are all injured.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Falcone; Veiga, Gaspar, Baschirotto, Gallo; Coulibaly, Ramadani; Pierotti, Helgason, Tete Morente; Rebic
Unavailable: Jean (Injured), Joan Gonzalez (Injured), Marchwinski (Injured), Berisha (Suspended), Krstovic (Suspended)

Atalanta vs Lecce Prediction
Atalanta went into a tough couple of matches in dire form but that aforementioned defeat of Milan last weekend came on the back of defeating Bologna by two goals to nil, too, to ease concerns they could even slip out of the top four. Lecce have endured a miserable couple of months and if not for the poor form of the current bottom three, would almost appear destined for the second-tier of Italian football once again. Atalanta should win this one quite comfortably, especially at home.
