Aston Villa Preview: Villains need a win

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa enjoyed a busy winter transfer window with the late arrivals of Axel Disasi, Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford to go with the signings of Andres Garcia and Donyell Malen as they compete on three fronts in the next few months.

They are winless in their last three matches in the Premier League but are still chasing a top four or five chasing in the UEFA Champions League. They defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the FA Cup last weekend with a UCL Round of 16 tie scheduled in for next month, too.

Ipswich Preview: Tractor Boys need to get motoring

Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town appeared to have given themselves an unlikely shot at survival at the turn of the year but the Tractor Boys have instead endured a difficult run of form that leaves them three points adrift of safety ahead of the 25th match day of the campaign.

They have managed just two victories in their last seven matches across all competitions with those wins both coming in the FA Cup; the first at home to League One Bristol Rovers last month and then against Championship side Coventry City by four goals to one last weekend.

Aston Villa Team News: The new look Villa

England international duo Tyrone Mings and Ollie Watkins have rebuilt their fitness levels and will be available to face Ipswich this weekend. Both Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford could make their Premier League debuts for the club with Axel Disasi also expected to be involved due to Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres' injury issues.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Garcia, Disasi, Mings, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans; Rogers, McGinn, Ramsey; Watkins

Unavailable: Konsa (Injured), Torres (Injured), Cash (Injured), Onana (Injured), Barkley (Injured)

Ipswich Team News: Palmer's potential PL debut

On his return from injury, Sammie Szmodics then had to hobble off against Coventry in the cup last weekend. Kieran McKenna has said it isn't 'as serious' as initially expected. Alex Palmer could make his Premier League debut for Ipswich this week after playing against Coventry following his late move from West Bromwich Albion.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Palmer; Godfrey, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Cajuste; Philogene, Hutchinson, Clarke; Delap

Unavailable: Walton (Injured), Ogbene (Injured), Burns (Injured), Chaplin (Injured)

Questionable: Szmodics (Injured)

Aston Villa vs Ipswich Prediction

Aston Villa have suffered just two defeats in their last ten matches across all competitions but things have been a little frustrating, despite in that time moving into the last 16 of the FA Cup and finishing in the top eight of the UEFA Champions League league phase. Ipswich Town will fancy their chances of hurting a Villa side that have a lot of defensive injury issues but, especially at home and given Ipswich’s way of managing to lose games from pretty much any scenario, a home win remains likely.
