Aston Villa Preview: Reset needed

You have to say that the international break came at the right time for Aston Villa, who have failed to win any of their last five games in all competitions, losing the last four.

Their 2-0 defeat to league-leaders Liverpool last time out meant that it was the first time they had lost four straight games during Unai Emery's tenure, with the the difficult task of juggling Premier League and Champions League football perhaps catching up with them.

Crystal Palace Preview: In the relegation zone

Crystal Palace continue to struggle in the Premier League having lost 0-2 at home to Fulham in their most recent Premier League fixture, and they sit in the bottom three heading into the weekend's action with manager Oliver Glasner under immense pressure to bring about an improvement in results.

The Seagulls have won just once in the Premier League so far, the surprise victory over Tottenham last month, and have collected just two points from their five away games in the division.

Aston Villa Team News: Quartet missing

Ezri Konsa will miss out so Matty Cash's recovery is a timely one as he may be able to slot straight in at right-back, while Amadou Onana, Boubacar Traore and Jacob Ramsey will also watch from the sidelines.

Ross Barkley is available for selection and could take Onana's spot in midfield, and we can assume that defensive pair Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen are fine given that there was no mention of them in Emery's press conference.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Carlos, Torres, Digne; Barkley, Tielemans; Bailey, Rogers, Philogene; Watkins

Unavailable: Konsa (Injured), Onana (Injured), Kamara (Injured), Ramsey (Injured)

Questionable: Torres (Injured), Maatsen (Injured)

Crystal Palace Team News: Hughes back from ban but Eze misses out again

Will Hughes is back from suspension and Cheick Doucoure is ready to start according to Glasner, and that could be the central midfield partnership, although Jefferson Lerma is also under consideration having returned from injury.

Daichi Kamada, however, is banned after his red card against Fulham, and Eberechi Eze won't be risked despite the England international being close to a return.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Chalobah, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Hughes, Doucoure, Mitchell; Sarr, Schlupp; Mateta

Unavailable: Riad (Injured), Wharton (Injured), Kamada (Suspended), Franca (Injured), Eze (Injured), Nketiah (Injured)

Questionable: Holding (Out of favour)

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace Prediction

This is perhaps an ideal fixture for Aston Villa to steady the ship as they welcome a Crystal Palace side - currently in the bottom three - who are yet to win an away game in the Premier League this season.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast for Villa but this is not one they should have too much trouble winning, with a home win predicted as they get their season back on track.
