Aryna Sabalenka vs Viktoriya Tomova Prediction

Aryna Sabalenka is a winner and for the world number one to have finished runner-up on consecutive occasions in two big tournaments will have been tough to take from her perspective. When you also factor in early exits in both Qatar and Dubai, then it increases the importance of her going all the way in Miami.

Viktoriya Tomova came through in three sets against USA’s Caty McNally despite not serving an ace and missing plenty of break points. She’ll be a massive underdog here, but she does boast a win over Sabalenka, on the clay court of Hungary back in 2016. Obviously, plenty has changed since then and to say that Sabalenka is a much improved player would be an understatement, the Belarusian having won three Grand Slam tournaments since then.

All three of those wins came on the hard court, emphasising Sabalenka’s class on this surface. Expect her to come out of the blocks quickly and really impose her game on Tomova, making it very difficult for the Bulgarian to respond. Any outcome other than a straight sets victory for Sabalenka would be a surprise.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Viktoriya Tomova Tip: Aryna Sabalenka to win 2-0
