Aryna Sabalenka vs Marie Bouzkova Prediction

Aryna Sabalenka has looked good en route to the quarter-finals in Brisbane but she is still ultimately in first gear. The world number one has beaten Renata Zarazua and then Yulia Putintseva in straight sets as she has done what she needs to do to beat her opponents so far.

She may need to step up a level here against Marie Bouzkova who did beat her the last time they met last year in a semi-final in Washington.

The 26-year-old Czech has had to beat two seeds to get this far as she overcame Jelena Ostapenko on Tuesday and the Victoria Azarenka on Thursday. Those were the number seven and ten seeds respectively and Bouzkova can have some confidence as she now faces the best in the world.

Sabalenka has more to come this week and she will need to do so to beat Bouzkova. It is hard to imagine her losing at the best of times but this could be the kind of week where she is not quite in full rhythm. That said, we still think she wins but do not be surprised if Bouzkova takes this match deep.
