Aryna Sabalenka vs Coco Gauff Prediction
Aryna Sabalenka had qualification already sealed before she played Elena Rybakina on Wednesday so she can be forgiven for going down in three sets. She would probably have preferred not to have gone the distanced and preserved some energy but her competitive instincts kicked in and it went to three.
Prior to that, she dominated in both matches against Qinwen Zheng and Jasmine Paolini winning in straight sets. She will know that this is arguably her toughest test yet against a player who is right on form.
Coco Gauff outplayed Jessica Pegula but it was the second win over Iga Swiatek that was particularly impressive. She was exceptional in that match and will take plenty of confidence from it.
In her third group match, she had a similar situation to Sabalenka in that she had already-qualified and she went down to Barbora Krejcikova who needed to win to qualify so had motivation on her side.
She will look to get back to top form here and she will need to be.
The two players have met eight times before and have won four of those matches each. It is Sabalenka who has had the edge in 2024 winning both of their meetings and we feel like she has the edge overall. So much will come down to who can hold their serve and we just favour the world number one to progress to the final.
