Arthur Fils vs Learner Tien Prediction

After losing his opening match, Arthur Fils hit back on Thursday and beat Jakub Mensik 4-2 4-3 4-2 in a rare straight-sets win in this format. Last year’s runner-up Fils had a real focus and motivation in that match which the opening loss has arguably helped him with. He comes into Friday’s encounter in must-win mode and that will likely help him again.

Learner Tien was comprehensively beaten by Joao Fonseca on Thursday 0-4 0-4 4-1 2-4 as he was caught cold and ultimately blown away by the in-form Brazilian. It will be interesting to see how he responds to that and if he can start faster and lean on his performance on Wednesday where he beat Jakub Mensik.

Fils has clearly gone up a gear after losing his opening match and that may have served to get him in the right head space to really click into gear. Tien struggled on Thursday and Fils should have too much for him here too. We expect Fils to win and progress to the semis.
