Arthur Fils vs Daniil Medvedev Prediction

Arthur Fils came through a second consecutive three-set battle on Wednesday against Marcos Giron to set up a quarter-final clash with Daniil Medvedev on Thursday.

Fils continues to show real grit and determination when needed and that so often gets him through matches but he does lack consistency within his matches at times.

That will be something that he will need to remedy against Medvedev here. He has met the Russian once before in Vienna and Medvedev won that 6-4 6-2 and it is hard to see anything other than a similar kind of win based on how the fifth-seed played last time out.

Medvedev dominated 10th-seed Tommy Paul on Tuesday 6-4 6-0 in a one-sided win that nobody quite saw coming. It will be interesting to see if Medvedev can now back that up as this is the kind of scenario where he so often produces and then contrives to lose when heavily favoured to win.

He will know he is in for a battle against Fils who will not shirk this kind of challenge and will likely put up a real fight. Medvedev however, is gaining good belief all the time and we cannot oppose him in this one.
