PREDICTION
Life goes on for Liverpool after the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona but Jurgen Klopp will look to give Virgil van Dijk a first league outing as they play host to runaway league leaders Manchester City. Liverpool will be looking to exact some revenge for the thrashing they received at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s men back in September but with the form that City are in this season, that is easier said than done.
MEMORABLE MEETING
April 2014 saw Liverpool and Manchester City square off at Anfield in a fixture that had big ramifications for the destination of that season’s Premier League title. An end- to-end encounter saw Liverpool come out on top thanks to a 3-2 victory with the belief that they would then go on to win a first top-flight title since 1990. However, a combination of Steven Gerrard’s slip against Chelsea and the Reds’ capitulation at Selhurst Park meant that the trophy eventually ended up at the Etihad for a second time in three seasons.
