SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

• The 49ers have predictably endured a tough start to the season so far against likely play-off candidates in the Panthers and Seahawks.
• Quarterback Brian Hoyer has been criticised for not throwing many deep balls so that may force them to take some more big shots here.
• The offense has been struggling so far with just 12 points and zero touchdowns scored in their opening two matches so the pressure is on.

LOS ANGELES RAMS

• The Rams started the season in tremendous form hammering the Colts but they followed that up by losing to the Redskins.
• With no real injury concerns, Sean McVay has all his key players available and will look to RB Gurley to lead the way in the rushing attack.
• McVay is working wonders with Jared Goff and the early signs this season are that the second year QB is making big progress under the coach.

Analysis - what to expect
It has been a tough start for the 49ers which was pretty much expected but the Rams are showing promise. Both sides are strong on the defensive side of the ball and recent matches between the two teams have been low scoring so expect this one to follow suit in an uninspiring Thursday Night game.
