THE TEAM NEWS

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

Coach: Gary Kirsten

Captain: Virat Kohli

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore are in something of a last chance saloon here after losing their five opening matches and they come off a demoralising five-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders after seeing their 205/3 overcome with five balls remaining thanks to Andre Russell’s heroics once again.

  • AB de Villiers did not take to the field in the second innings against KKR due to dehydration following his excellent batting performance but he will be fit to play here as he and Kohli will aim to reproduce their strong displays from that match.

  • They still need other players like Moeen Ali to contribute much more and his position could be under threat here, but there will almost certainly be changes to their bowling unit with Washington Sundar potentially coming into the side and Tim Southee will keep his place despite a below par performance in his first match against KKR.

DELHI CAPITALS

Coach: Ricky Ponting

Captain: Shreyas Iyer

  • Delhi Capitals have lost their last two matches against Kings XI and the Sunrisers as they sit with just four points from their opening five matches and they need to improve with both bat and ball if they are to reverse their fortunes.

  • More than any one particular area of their game, it is decision-making and playing the crucial moments in matches that has let them down but they will ultimately want their batsmen to step up as they are under-performing despite having a star-studded line-up.

  • There is a chance that they bring Colin Munro into the side at the top of the order in an attempt to get them off to a quicker start and it could be Chris Morris to make way for him if they decide to use Munro and his part-time bowling.

THE PREDICTION

Royal Challengers Bangalore have lost all five matches in IPL 2019 so far but they are edging closer to getting a win. Their batting is looking stronger and that will ultimately be their best chance of winning a match as their bowling is pretty poor and they will look to overpower teams. Delhi have the better balance in their team but they are lacking something psychologically which is costing them dearly in matches. Conditions will favour their team more than in Delhi, but the urgency in this RCB team may just be too much for them here. RCB have a superb recent record against the Capitals having won their last five and this will be their chance to snap this losing streak.
