THE TEAM NEWS

MUMBAI INDIANS

Coach: Mahela Jayawardene

Captain: Rohit Sharma

  • Mumbai Indians have won just one of their three matches so far so they are under some pressure to bounce back from the loss against Kings XI Punjab at the weekend and win here to join the cluster of teams above them on four points.

  • Their fast bowling options have received another boost as Australian pace bowler Jason Behrendorff has arrived in Mumbai following international duty against Pakistan and he will be available to come straight into the side with Mitch McClenaghan’s place under threat unless Malinga is rested.

  • The batting still needs to improve notably and it was the middle order once again that let them down against Kings XI and it is surely a matter of time before Kieron Pollard is dropped with compatriot Evin Lewis waiting in the wings to come into the side.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

Coach: Stephen Fleming

Captain: MS Dhoni

  • It has been a hugely impressive start for the defending champions as the Chennai Super Kings remain the only team to have a 100% winning record as they come off another win over Rajasthan Royals at the weekend.

  • Mitch Santner came into the side in the last game for Harbhajan Singh but his two overs went for 26 as his impact was minimal so there is every chance that the veteran could return here though MS Dhoni may decide to make another change to the team.

  • Scott Kuggeleijn will not be available to come into the side just yet but it would be no surprise to see Faf du Plessis be given a chance in the starting line-up after sitting out the opening three matches.

THE PREDICTION

It is Chennai Super Kings who have made the dream start to IPL 2019 as they have continued where they left off last season but Mumbai Indians will not be daunted by facing them. They have an excellent recent record against them and they have the urgency right now having won just one of their opening three matches. The Indians' bowling attack is boosted by Behrendorff’s arrival and on a pitch that should favour batsmen, the home side could well snap the Super Kings’ winning streak here.
