SAM QUERREY
- Sam Querrey defeated Russia’s Andrey Rublev with little fuss in a straight-sets and ace-heavy victory to meet John Millman in the third round.
- Querrey bettered his aces count from 22 is first-round match to 26 with one less set played against Rublev which shows he is finding a frightening rhythm
- 31-year-old Querrey has favourable fixtures ahead of him in the draw thanks to Joao Sousa’s elimination of Marin Cilic, who has beaten the American at Wimbledon on three occasions.
JOHN MILLMAN
- John Millman has navigated two quite difficult match-ups in straight-sets wins over Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien and 31st seed Laslo Djere.
- 30-year-old Millman is yet to drop a set at Wimbledon and has had his serve broken just the once by Serbia’s number three Djere in the second round.
- Millman has matched his best-ever result at Wimbledon after reaching the third round in 2016 but he lost to Milos Raonic in straight sets last year and his next opponent Sam Querrey is a similar opponent.
THE PREDICTION
On paper Sam Querrey looks to be the better player but John Millman has a habit of going under the radar, as he has done at this year’s Wimbledon so far. The Aussie has dispatched of two players in Dellien and Djere with some buzz around them with ease but he will have to be at his best to beat Querrey, who looks to be settling in at SW19 for another deep run. Tie-breaks should be key in an American victory.
