KEVIN ANDERSON

  • Kevin Anderson lost the tiebreak in his second set against Janko Tipsarevic in the second round but crucially held his serve throughout his four-set win.
  • Anderson looks to be in a similar vein of form that saw him finish as runner-up to Novak Djokovic last year but he will be wary of how fatigued he was by the time he reached that final.
  • Anderson has reached the round of 16 stage at Wimbledon in four of his last five appearances after years of first and second-round exits at the beginning of his career.

GUIDO PELLA

  • Guido Pella has spent a long time on court already after a four set opening match with Marius Copil was followed by a five-set win over Andreas Seppi.
  • Pella is the 26th seed at this year’s Wimbledon following his title win at the Brasil Open earlier this year and an excellent clay season.
  • The Argentine is improving his showing at Wimbledon year-on-year and beat then world number five Marin Cilic in five sets in the second round at last year’s tournament.

THE PREDICTION

This match offers an interesting pairing and could go the distance between two very determined individuals. Kevin Anderson’s big-serving style leaves little room for break points and often leads to tiebreaks, which an energetic Guido Pella could steal. The Argentine beat Marin Cilic at this stage last year in a similar situation. However, Anderson has faced eight break points this tournament so far and saved all of them, and he should be favourite to proceed here.
